New Features
Passwordless Sign-in
Users can now sign in with a one-time code sent to their email address, with no password to set or remember.
-
The sign-in screen asks only for an email address. The code expires after five minutes, and users can request a new one if it has expired or is invalid.
-
Users whose email domain uses SSO are still sent to their SSO provider.
-
Existing users keep their account, organisation and roles, with no need to reset a password or register again.
-
Invited users are told to sign in with their email address, and there is no step to set a password.
-
Changing a password from the user profile is no longer available.
-
Passwordless sign-in can be enabled on its own, or together with self-registration by email domain.
For user guidance, see Your Organization.
Harbr turns this on for your ecosystem. Please contact your Harbr Account Manager to have it set up.
Passwordless Sign-in is only available for platforms integrated with Auth0.
Enabling this setting instantly enforces passwordless sign-in for all users, disabling traditional password authentication.
Self-registration by email domain
People with an approved email domain can now join your platform on their own without waiting for an invitation.
-
Approved email domains are mapped to an organisation. The first time someone with a matching email address signs in, their account is created in that organisation.
-
A wildcard entry can send new users from any unlisted email domain to a chosen organisation. Anyone whose domain isn’t approved or covered by a wildcard can’t sign in, and no account is created.
-
New users get the default roles configured for self-registration, or the General role if none are set. No invitation email is sent, and they’re asked for their first and last name the first time they sign in.
-
Works with password sign-in and with passwordless sign-in. With passwordless sign-in, the account is only created once the user has entered the one-time code sent to their email address.
-
Self-registration is configured separately from approved invite domains, which still apply to invitations. Without self-registration, the platform stays invite-only.
-
Not available on platforms that use Microsoft Entra for sign-in.
For user guidance, see Your Organization.
For operator set-up, see Configuring Self-Registration by Email Domain.
Harbr turns this on for your ecosystem. Please contact your Harbr Account Manager to have it set up.
Self-registration by email domain is only available for platforms integrated with Auth0.
In-app notifications
EARLY ACCESS
Harbr now tells you about activity that matters to you directly in the platform, through the notification bell in the navigation bar.
-
You are notified when, for example, someone you invited joins, a product you created or subscribe to has refreshed data, or a task you are involved in runs successfully or fails.
-
Choose which categories of notification you receive from your profile.
For user guidance, see Notifications and Explore Your Profile.
Please contact your Harbr Account Manager if you are interested in setting up this feature.
When In-app Notifications are turned on, as part of the 5.34 release all In-app notifications will be turned on by default. To turn each notification off see Notifications.
Asset creation control
For each of your organizations you can now choose which kinds of asset their users can create: on-platform assets, at-source assets and desktop uploads, in any combination.
-
When a type is turned off, users see that a platform administrator has turned it off.
-
If all three are turned off, users in that organisation cannot create assets.
For operator set-up, see Configuring Asset Creation Control by Organization.
Improvements
On Platform File assets in Spaces
File assets in Spaces now work in every Databricks environment.
-
Bring existing file assets into a Space, create files within the Space, and create new file assets from it.
-
There is no longer a limit on the number of file asset locations you can mount in a Space.
-
File assets in Spaces work in Spaces created after the feature is enabled. Harbr handles the setup, so there is nothing to configure on your side.
For user guidance, see Spaces and File Assets in Spaces.
File assets in Spaces support on-platform assets. Support for at-source assets will follow in a later release.
In 5.33 this was enabled for customers on Azure Databricks, 5.34 enables platforms with an AWS Databricks account to use on platform file assets in spaces.
At-source Databricks assets in Spaces
At-source Databricks tables can now be used in Spaces on Databricks platforms, with the data staying in your provider's Unity Catalog.
-
Bring at-source Databricks table assets into a Space and work with them alongside your other assets.
-
Harbr handles the setup, so there is nothing to configure on your side.
Implementation Note:
-
Only at-source assets created after 5.34 will be available in Spaces.
Applies only to Databricks-managed or Delta formatted tables.
For user guidance, see Spaces and Databricks.
Open Pages navigation: categories and tags
Visitors to your Open Pages can now find products more easily.
-
Filter products by group, by publisher (shown with the publisher's logo), and by category and tag.
-
Products within a section can be sorted.
For user guidance, see Open Pages.
Open Pages - SEO
Product owners can now choose whether search engines list each open product, with a "List this product in search engines" setting on the product's visibility page. Products are listed unless the owner turns it off.
Open Pages also publish a sitemap, so search engines can find every open product.
Data sharing in the navigation bar
Data sharing now has its own place in the navigation bar, so you can create and manage all your shares from one page.
For user guidance, see Navigation Bar and Data Sharing.
Faster Spaces start-up
Spaces now start up faster, so you can get to your tools sooner.
