Product Subscriptions

There may be multiple subscription plans available for each Data Product. Each plan will allows you to gain access to the assets within that product. Subscription plans are applied by users with product management permissions and define important parameters relating to your usage of the data.

Subscribe to a Product

  1. Go to the Exchange on the navigation bar.

  2. Click on the Product tile you are interested in.

  3. Click either the Plans tab.

  4. Select the subscription plan you would like to use.

    • You can choose a "self-service" subscription plan (if available), and immediately start to use the product

    • Or you can choose a "managed" subscription plan, where you will need to contact the owner of the product via email.

  5. Click the check-box to accept the T&Cs of using the product, if applicable.

    1. These provide more details around the approved usage of the data within the product and are different from the T&Cs of using the platform which were accepted during registration

  6. Select Subscribe. When a subscription is active, you can use the data according to the terms of the subscription. For example, the subscription must allow Spaces or Query to use the data on platform, and Export or Spaces and Export to take the data off platform.

    • If your platform is designed in a way that supports Request Subscriptions, continue reading.

Warning: If you see a yellow warning against a subscription plan, it means you have already been allocated a subscription and must accept the associated T&Cs before it can be used.

Once you have subscribed to a product, you are ready to work with its contents on platform, in a Space or in Query, or off-platform via Export.

There are various ways to view the subscriptions that you have to particular Data Products.

View Subscriptions via My Collection

  1. Navigate to to ‘My collection’ in the main navigation bar

  2. Use the filters to display products only

  3. View the column values to understand why you have access and what that access allows you to do (use in spaces, export or both)

View Subscriptions via the Exchange

To find your data product subscriptions via the Exchange:

  1. Click on the Exchange icon on the navigation bar.

  2. Toggle to Subscribed on the All/Subscribed toggle switch on the right-hand side of the page

  3. Only the Data Products to which have subscribed appear on the Exchange.

Subscriptions via Approval Requests

Your platform may be configured in a way that supports approval requests for product subscriptions or data product releases. If this the case, you will need to submit a request and follow an authorization process.

To make a Request Subscription:

  1. Go to the Exchange on the navigation bar.

  2. Click on the Product tile you are interested in.

  3. Select the Plans tab.

  4. Select the subscription plan you would like to use.

  5. Click the check-box to accept the terms and conditions of using the product, if applicable.

  6. Select Request Subscription.

  • Your request follows the authorization workflow that has been defined for the Subscription Plan.

  • The status of request is updated to status:REQUESTED until a response is received

    • If status:APPROVED you are able to create a Data Share to access the data for each Asset within the Product according to the terms of the subscription

    • if status:REJECTED you can review the comments and submit the request again if necessary

Once your subscription has been approved you can consume the data held within the Assets contained within the Product, as defined by the terms of the subscription.

To view your Approval Requests:

  1. Click your User icon on the navigation bar.

  2. Go to the Approval Requests tab

  3. Filter your requests by Request type and Request Status

  4. View

    • The Date the request was submitted

    • The Request Type

      • Product Subscription

      • Data Product Release

    • Request Subject (e.g. product to release)

    • Approver

    • Status
